Charlotte graduated from the Welsh College of Music and Drama in 1997 and continued her studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She now enjoys a career as a soloist and ensemble singer performing with many of the UK's finest conductors all over the world.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Charlotte Mobbs

Recent solo performances include Bach St Matthew Passion at Cadogan Hall, Magnificat and various Cantatas at the Royal FestiVal Hall (Sir John Eliot Gardiner). Galatea Acis and Galatea at The Foundling Museum (Harry Christophers), Dixit Dominus (The Sixteen) and Messiah at the Bridgewater Hall and Royal Festival Hall (David Hill). MacMillan Seven Last Words from the Cross at the Concertgebouw (James MacMillan). Mendlessohn Midsummer Nights Dream at St Johns Smith Square & on a European tour (Sir John Eliot Gardiner). Stravinsky Mass (Paul McCreesh), Vivaldi Gloria and Scarlatti Stabat Mater (Harry Christophers).  In June 2009 she gave the concert premiere of Howard Goodall's Eternal Light - A Requiem at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford. Charlotte's performance of Purcell's O Dive Custos (as part of The Sixteen's 2009 Choral Pilgrimage) has received much acclaim and was broadcast live on radio 3 from the QEH.

 

Recordings include the role of Mermaid in Weber's Oberon on Decca, premiere of Cecilia McDowell's On Angels Wings on Dutton, Purcell's O Dive Custos on Coro, as well as numerous consort recordings with The Monteverdi Choir, The Sixteen and the Gabrieli Consort. Television appearances include Howard Goodall's "Great Dates" (Verdi Requiem soloist) and "How Music Works" performing Handel's Angels Ever Bright and Fair. Charlotte can also be seen in Charles Hazlewood's "The Birth of British Music", broadcast on BBC2 in May 2009.

 

Future engagements include soprano solo in recording and performances of Howells Requiem for Paul McCreesh / The Gabrieli Consort, soloist Bach B Minor Mass tour for Harry Christophers / The Sixteen, soloist Handel Israel in Egypt Wroclaw for Sir John Eliot Gardiner and recording and filming duets for a series of programmes entitled "Sopranos", to be broadcast on S4C in 2010.

 

 

 

 

 

Charlotte Mobbs sang in our December 2008 production of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Jonathan Dove’s ‘The Passing of the Year’.
